Amazed | Luke 2:46-47

Luke 2:46-47
…They found him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. Everyone who heard him was amazed at his understanding and his answers.
Every year, Mary and Joseph made the seventy mile trip from Nazareth to Jerusalem for the Feast of the Passover. When Jesus was twelve, the perfect Passover Lamb celebrated the annual Passover Feast for the first time. After the feast, his parents headed home, thinking he was in their traveling group. But at the end of the first day, they couldn’t find him.
Jesus had stayed behind engaging with the teachers in the temple. The all-knowing God, in an adolescent body, sat in the temple listening to the teachers, asking questions, and getting a few questions in return. “Everyone who heard him was amazed at his understanding and his answers.”
Amazed. That’s the word that normally describes interaction with Jesus. People were amazed at his teaching. People were amazed at his authority. People were amazed at his power. Here’s the question: Are you amazed at Jesus?
Lord Jesus, too often we can get so familiar and comfortable with the things you do in our lives that we cease to be amazed. Please reignite our amazement for you. Amen.
