Psalm 61:4-8
I long to dwell in your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of your wings. For you, God, have heard my vows; you have given me the heritage of those who fear your name. Increase the days of the king’s life, his years for many generations. May he be enthroned in God’s presence forever; appoint your love and faithfulness to protect him. Then I will ever sing in praise of your name and fulfill my vows day after day.
The world says, “Take it now!” God is about forever.
The flesh says, “You deserve it now!” God is about forever.
Satan says, “Compromise now!” God is about forever.
Many want their palaces here. The believer longs to dwell in God’s tent forever.
Many sacrifice for temporal security. The believer craves eternal refuge.
Many work for earthly rewards. The believer desires an eternal heritage.
Many build their kingdoms here. The believer longs to be enthroned in God’s presence forever.
Father, teach me the difference between now and forever. Don’t let me give in to the present and sacrifice the forever. Help me accomplish things today that count for eternity. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
