Psalm 91:9-16
If you say, “The LORD is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent. “Because he loves me,” says the LORD, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”
Security. It allows us to live with confidence and peace. We don’t know what tomorrow holds but we know who holds it. Circumstances may churn up our emotions but the Most High is over all the situations of our lives. God never changes as He works in a world full of constant change. He alone gives us security.
Refuge. Each of us needs to find a place of protection. We are bombarded from all directions. The world attacks from without. The flesh attacks from desires within. And Satan, a student of our behavior, does his best to hit us between the gaps in our armor—but God is our refuge. He is our place of real protection.
Dwelling. As we journey through life we need a safe place to stay. We need a place to rest our weary souls. We need encouraging fellowship to build us up. When we make God our dwelling, “no harm will overtake” us. “No disaster will come near” our tents. God will guard us with His angels.
Father please be my security. I need Your confidence and peace. Please be my refuge. I need a place of safety and protection. Please be my dwelling. I need a place to rest on the journey. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
