Psalm 136:1-9 

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good.
His love endures forever.
Give thanks to the God of gods.
His love endures forever.
Give thanks to the Lord of lords:
His love endures forever.
to him who alone does great wonders,
His love endures forever.
who by his understanding made the heavens,
His love endures forever.
who spread out the earth upon the waters,
His love endures forever.
who made the great lights —
His love endures forever.
the sun to govern the day,
His love endures forever.
the moon and stars to govern the night;
His love endures forever. 

Our heavenly Father is the God of gods and the Lord of lords; and…He is good. Everything He does is right. His love is unconditional. He has provided the way to Himself through His Son, Jesus. We belong to Him because of his enduring loyal love.

Twenty-six times in this Old Testament song, worshipers repeated, “His love endures forever.” It was a deep theological truth that the psalmist did not want people to miss or forget. The repetition engraved this truth deep into the Israelites’ minds.

Even when news is not good, God is. Even when the job goes away, God doesn’t. Even when we feel alone, we’re not. Even when we feel rejected, God wraps us in hands of acceptance. God’s love carries us through each day of our lives and then carries us home. Thanksgiving is a daily celebration because God’s love endures forever. 

Father, thank You for Your eternal and enduring love through Jesus. In His name I pray. Amen.
