Road Rules: Vinegar and Smoke

by | Aug 3, 2024 | Daily Devotion, Road Rules | 0 comments

We all depend on other people. Being part of a team is not only fun and rewarding; it is necessary. A team can do together what no one person can do alone. The flip side is that when one person on the team drops the ball, misses an assignment, or fails to carry his/her weight…the entire team suffers.

Today’s proverb says it like this:

Proverbs 10:26
Like vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to those who send him.

Vinegar is sour! A face full of smoke burns! In the same way, a sluggard distracts and hurts the whole team.

So…at home, work, and church…carry your weight, do your job, and do it well! Others are depending on you. Don’t leave them with a bad taste in their mouths.

Father, remind us that others are always impacted by what we do and how we do it. People depend on us. Help us to not let them down.
For Christ’s sake.
Amen.
