Psalm 90:2
Before the mountains were born, before you gave birth to the earth and the world, from beginning to end, you are God.
God is eternal. There was never a time when he wasn’t; there will never be a time when he ceases to exist. He has neither a beginning nor an end.
God is eternal. There is no succession of moments in his being. God never says, “My goodness, I don’t know where this day went.” He is not on a 24-hour cycle of days, weeks, months, or years.
God is eternal. He sees all things equally vividly. As I write this, I am looking at my computer screen. In my peripheral vision, I can see my coffee mug, some books, a printer, and the hint of a beautiful day out my window. God sees all things from beginning to end at the same time, in living color!
God is eternal. While he sees everything equally vividly, God sees events and acts in time. He watches me throughout the day. In fact, he never takes his eyes off me. In every situation of my timed day, God gives me exactly what I need right when I need it.
God is eternal, and he loves me so much that he sent his Son to pay the penalty of my sins so I can call him “Abba, Father.” Amazing!
Eternal Father, I cannot comprehend your eternality, but I can experience your love and care. Thank you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
