Psalm 121:5-8
The Lord himself watches over you! The Lord stands beside you as your protective shade. The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon at night. The Lord keeps you from all harm and watches over your life. The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever.

The world is a shaky place in which to live. As I write this, the headlines give updates on several wars going on around the world. A hurricane is causing major damage and widespread power outages in parts of our country. Corruption charges are being brought against government leaders. There is no end to the political bickering.

Uncertainty is the only certainty. Things change in our lives from day to day. Tests, treatments, and surgeries are on this week’s schedule for many reading this. Others have jobs that are on the brink. Too many marriages are hanging together with one last thin thread of commitment. However, there is one certainty in this uncertain world.

The unchanging God watches over you. He never sleeps, protecting you day and night. He leaves with you in the morning, comes home at night, and watches over you throughout the day. God is certain. He will hold you steady when your world seems like it’s falling apart.

Father, help us hold on to you when the certain storm delivers uncertainty in our lives. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
