Psalm 18:46-50
The LORD lives! Praise be to my Rock! Exalted be God my Savior! He is the God who avenges me, who subdues nations under me, who saves me from my enemies. You exalted me above my foes; from a violent man you rescued me. Therefore I will praise you, LORD, among the nations; I will sing the praises of your name. He gives his king great victories; he shows unfailing love to his anointed, to David and to his descendants forever.
“The Lord lives! Praise be to my Rock! Exalted be God my Savior!” Don’t miss the exclamation marks. These statements shout out from David’s mouth and heart. He had been running for his life. Then God reached down to perform the rescue. David experienced God at work in real life in real time.
The Lord lives! He is the author of great victories. His love never fails. What He says, He will do. He is the Rock! The Savior! The Avenger!
I have a red band on my left wrist that used to have written on it, “Watch for God.” The words are worn off now but the band continues to remind me to watch for God at work. Reading about God in His word is essential to Christian growth. And, we need to see Him in action. David did and the praise poured.
Father, You are at work in my life and in the lives of those around me. Help me to watch for You and see You work in real life in real time. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
