Psalm 112:1-5
Praise the LORD. Blessed are those who fear the LORD, who find great delight in his commands. Their children will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and riches are in their houses, and their righteousness endures forever. Even in darkness light dawns for the upright, for those who are gracious and compassionate and righteous. Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely, who conduct their affairs with justice.
Today’s passage is a great reminder for every parent and grandparent. Like a rock dropped in a pool of water, our actions ripple through the lives of our children and grandchildren.
The Lord blesses those who honor Him. The investment of obedience today results in great dividends. That truth should give every parent and grandparent a solemn pause.
Take some time to let God drive that truth deep into your heart. Feel the weight of responsibility. My life cannot be about what delights me, but what brings pleasure to God. The person who finds great delight in God’s commands today will pass on great blessings tomorrow.
Father, remind me often that my actions produce blessings or consequences. Help me find great delight in Your commands. Move me past lip service to real action. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
