Power in the Psalms: Trust

Some people like to trust the tangible—things they can see and touch, such as a strong showing of the Dow, a large and equipped military, a secure retirement, or their party running the government. Some trust in well-built, fortified chariots pulled by strong, speedy horses.

For the believer, tangible things are to be used, not worshiped. God calls us to trust him in all things. Things of this world will rust, rot, and decay. He is the only One who is the same from eternity past to eternity future.

Here’s what David said in Psalm 20:

Psalm 20:7
Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.

What are you trusting in? What causes confidence to well up inside of you? What do you look for and cling to regardless of whether the stocks are up or down? One day the Lord our God will be the only One there is to trust.

Father, help me trust in you alone regardless of the times, my health, or my job situation. Don’t let me allow anything to supplant my trust in you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
