Philippians 4:19
And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.
What do you need to do the thing that God is calling you to do? What’s holding you back? What’s causing spiritual paralysis? What’s causing you to run from God? What’s the one thing you need to make you feel sufficient to follow hard after God?
Well, according to today’s passage, the fear of inadequacy has a remedy. Seems to me this verse promises that God will meet all of your needs. He won’t have to take out a loan. He will meet your needs according to his unlimited riches.
What’s keeping you from asking God to meet all your needs so you can do what he’s calling you to do? Could it be that you have become a bit too comfortable with your fear of inadequacy? Could it be that inadequacy has become your safe house? Could it be that your “Not me, Lord, I don’t measure up” attitude has become your go-to excuse? A believer frozen by the fear of inadequacy is like a starving man sitting next to a pot of gold, content to starve with riches just a reach away.
Father, please give us a sample today of how your riches meet our needs. Then, with that taste of your promise, help us move forward with confidence and faith. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
