1 Corinthians 3:16
Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you?

In the Old Testament, the temple was the house of God. Believers went to the temple to meet with God and seek his favor and forgiveness through their sacrifices. Many journeyed for several days over rough terrain to arrive at the place where God lived. Now, all of that has changed!

The sacrificial system of the Old Testament was completed for all time with the perfect sacrifice of the Lamb, Jesus Christ. Now there is favor and forgiveness for all who trust in Jesus as the One who died on their behalf and paid the penalty for their sins. Through Jesus we can have a personal relationship with the living God, a very personal relationship.

When a person trusts in Jesus as their Savior, the Holy Spirit takes up residence in their heart. The Spirit of God lives in every believer! We become the living, breathing houses of God. He will be in us and with us forever. The believer is significant because of the presence of God in their heart! Your identity is in Christ. You are secure. You are God’s child forever!

Father, thank you for the fact that your Holy Spirit lives in me. Thank you for making me your temple, the place where you dwell. Thank you for your promise that you will never move out of my heart, your home. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
