Psalm 27:1
The Lord is my light and my salvation—so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?
God finds me in the darkness, the place where fear of the unknown resides, but he doesn’t leave me there. He is my personal light, revealing the sin of my heart, showing my desperate need, and illuminating the right path to take.
The Lord is my light! Why should I be afraid?
God seeks and saves the lost. I was wandering aimlessly through life, caught in the web of my sin. Then God rescued me. He forgave my sin, declared me “Not guilty!” and clothed me with the righteousness of Jesus.
The Lord is my salvation! Why should I be afraid?
God surrounds me with his presence and protection. He gives me all the strength to do what he has called me to do. He never leaves me nor forsakes me. He is the rock to which I cling and the refuge to which I run.
The Lord is my fortress! Why should I tremble?
Father, you are my light! My salvation! My stronghold! You are on my side. There is no one and nothing to fear. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
