Nahum 1:7
The Lord is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes. He is close to those who trust in him.

The Lord is good. God always has our best interests at heart. He never wastes our time. He is working in you today to prepare you for tomorrow. His assignments are not always easy. In fact, sometimes they are very hard, but he never leaves nor forsakes us. He has great plans for our future.

The Lord is a strong refuge when trouble comes. Jesus reminded us that in this life we will have trouble. Challenges will shake our faith. Questions will fill our hearts. Sometimes doubts will sprout up. These are normal responses. In challenging times, God is always our shelter and protection. Run to his open arms and feel his strong embrace.

The Lord is close to those who trust in him. Religions of the world have a god who is distant and doesn’t care. Man must work hard to get the god’s attention. Man must somehow prove his worth. However, the Bible teaches us the amazing truth that God came to man. God loves us so much that he sent his only Son. Because God loves us so much that he sent Jesus to take care of our eternity, we can be confident that he cares for us today. He can always be trusted.

Father, today is a difficult day. Remind me by your Spirit that lives in me that you are good, that you are my shelter, and that you care for me. I need that reassurance today. I am listening for your voice. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
