God’s righteousness means that he always acts in accordance with what is right and just. And he is the final standard of what is right and just. God is perfect, and all his actions are perfect. He is just in all he does. God can never think, desire, or do evil. He does no wrong. Here’s the way Deuteronomy 32 says it.
Deuteronomy 32:4
He is the Rock; his deeds are perfect. Everything he does is just and fair. He is a faithful God who does no wrong; how just and upright he is!
Years ago, I ran across this old song. The text was written by a German teacher, Samuel Rodigast. He wrote these words to encourage a very sick friend. Let this be today’s prayer.
Whate’er my God ordains is right, His holy will abideth; I will be still whate’er He doth, And follow where He guideth. He is my God, Though dark my road, He holds me that I shall not fall, Wherefore to Him I leave it all.
Whate’er my God ordains is right, He never will deceive me; He leads me by the proper path, I know He will not leave me, And take content What He hath sent; His hand can turn my griefs away, And patiently I wait His day.
Whate’er my God ordains is right, Here shall my stand be taken; Though sorrow, need, or death be mine, Yet am I not forsaken, My Father’s care Is round me there, He holds me that I shall not fall, And so to Him I leave it all.
