Refuge: Under Construction

Philippians 1:6
And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.

All believers should wear a T-shirt that says UNDER CONSTRUCTION. We are unfinished projects. God started a good work in us, but he’s not finished. He will “continue his work until it is finally finished.” It will be finished when we take our last breath.

The fear of insignificance settles in our hearts when we forget that we are works in progress. During this life we’ll have our share of spiritual trips and falls. We’ll take three spiritual steps forward, then two back. We will disappoint others and ourselves.

Significance is nourished when I remember who I am and whose I am. I am a child of God and will be forever! I know that God is the One who started the spiritual work in my life. I know that he will never leave any project unfinished. I am confident that God, who began this work in my life, will deliver me completely because of the finished work of Jesus. My significance is in Jesus. Any other person will leave me incomplete.

Lord Jesus, thank you for your finished work of salvation. Thank you for starting that work in me, and thank you for the certain promise that one day it will be completed when I meet you face to face. Amen.
