Refuge: Who Do You Trust?

by | Sep 20, 2024 | Daily Devotion, Refuge | 0 comments

Some people like to trust in tangible stuff. Things they can see and touch, such as a strong showing of the Dow, a large and equipped military, a secure retirement, or their party running the government. Here’s how Psalm 20 describes it:

Psalm 20:7
Some nations boast of their chariots and horses, but we boast in the name of the Lord our God.

For the believer, tangible things are to be used, not worshiped. God calls us to trust him in all things. Things of this world will rust, rot, and decay. He is the only One who is the same from eternity past to eternity future.

What are you trusting in? What makes confidence well up inside you? What do you look toward and cling to regardless of whether the stocks are up or down? One day, he will be the only One there is to trust.

Father, help us trust in you alone regardless of the times, our health, or our job situations. Don’t let us allow anything to supplant our trust in you alone. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
