Road Rules: God’s Prevailing Plans

God made our hearts to dream. Big dreams! Great things! Let’s be honest. What Christian says, “I want to barely be saved, live a go-along-to-get-along Christian life, and make it into heaven by the skin of my teeth.” The true believer wants to do meaningful things for a great God. The true believer wants to use the few days here on earth to make an eternal impact. The true believer wants to leave a lasting legacy. The true believer wants to hear, “Well done, my good and faithful servant!”

And . . . the true believer knows this: God is sovereign. He will open the doors to the paths of his choosing. He will shut the doors to paths not intended for us. It will be amazing how often we find ourselves “in the right place at the right time.” There will be enough “coincidences” in life that we will soon realize there are no “coincidences” in life. God really does work all things out for good.

Proverbs 19:21
Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.

So, follow hard after God! Ask him to put his dreams in your heart. He will take your plans and turn them in his direction. Martin Luther said, “Love God and do what you will.” Luther knew that the Lord’s purposes will always prevail in the heart that is in love with the Creator.

Father, give us the courage, confidence, and faith to dream big dreams for you! Give us the deep understanding that when we follow hard after you, your purposes will prevail. In Christ’s name.
Amen.

How perfect for this day! All the fear, anger & questioning regarding who will be our next President subsides when we realize that it is the “purpose of the Lord that will stand”! That doesn’t mean ” our guy” will win because God’s purposes are supremely higher than our understanding or “plans in the mind of man”. I’m putting this verse on my bathroom mirror!
