Road Rules: Maker of Them All

The journey of life places each person on a different path. Some live and die in the slums of Nairobi; others strike it rich in the slots of Nevada. Some live the lifestyle of the rich and famous, flying their private jets from one exotic location to the next. Not long ago, I read that NBA superstar Shaquille O’Neal’s monthly expenses are nearly $900,000. The spending includes $13,000 for food, $24,000 for clothes, and almost $500,000 on three home mortgages!

But regardless of our net worth, this one thing is true: The Lord is the Maker of us all. That’s what today’s proverb drives home.

Proverbs 22:2
The rich and the poor meet together; the Lord is the Maker of them all.

One day, we will stand before the Lord to give an account. In the end, only one thing matters for the rich and the poor. The issue will be where each one of us stands with Jesus.

Whether rich or poor, we are all sinners and fall short of the glory of God. Whether rich or poor, we all need a Savior. Whether rich or poor, the question is, “Have you trusted in Christ alone to forgive your sins and place you in a relationship with the living God?” It’s a “yes” or “no” answer for the rich…and the poor.

Father, remind us that everyone needs a Savior, whether rich or poor. Give us the courage to share the Good News with every person you put in our paths.
In Jesus’ name.
Amen.
