Psalm 85:1-7
For the director of music. Of the Sons of Korah. A psalm.
You, LORD, showed favor to your land; you restored the fortunes of Jacob. You forgave the iniquity of your people and covered all their sins. You set aside all your wrath and turned from your fierce anger. Restore us again, God our Savior, and put away your displeasure toward us. Will you be angry with us forever? Will you prolong your anger through all generations? Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? Show us your unfailing love, LORD, and grant us your salvation.
Forgiveness. What a powerful word! It erases the shame of sin from our past. It releases us to a future of serving God with our whole being. God is a God who forgives. He covers all my sin.
Forgiveness. What a beautiful word! God throws our sin into the depths of the sea. He hides it behind His back. He treads it under His foot. He remembers our sin no more. God is a God who forgives. He covers all my sin.
Forgiveness. What a cleansing word! I can’t conceal my sin. God sees it all. I can bring my sin to God no matter how ugly and repulsive it is. God is a God who forgives. He covers all my sin.
Forgiveness. What a costly word! Pardon has been made possible through Jesus. He bore my sin in His body on the cross. His suffering and pain provided my forgiveness. He died so that I could live. God is a God who forgives. He covers all my sin.
Lord, thank You for being a God who forgives. Thank You for covering all my sin. Thank You for forgiveness provided by the work of Jesus. In His name I pray. Amen.
